Project Management
New Builds – Refits & Renovations
Project Management is available for both new, custom builds as well as refits and renovations of existing yachts. Project Manager Christopher Shearman has refitted yachts in Japan, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Mexico, The Caribbean, and the east and west coasts of the U.S.A.
The Excelsior Yacht Group works closely with owners on the desired result. Chris begins with planning the complete project, from identifying the most cost effective location of the refit (worldwide), to choosing the right shipyard and hiring the most skilled craftsmen. We organize and run the project on budget and on time, always keeping a clear line of communication between himself and the owners, yard, and crew.
The Excelsior Yacht Group manages projects that are built to stringent MCA Standards (Maritime Coast guard Agency.) This certification enables the finished yachts to charter more easily, and in many cases have stronger resale value.
Chris has in the past been contracted to take over $200,000.00 – $60,000,000.00 projects that were over budget and behind schedule. He turned the projects around, resulting in quicker and more cost effective completion.
Over the years, he has built excellent relationships with architects, engineers, and other skilled marine labor, all over the globe. He has excellent relationships with international marine supply companies, and in many cases can pass on valuable savings to his clients.
RMK Marine Appoints New Project Manager
(From SuperYachtTimes.com October/08)
RMK Marine has appointed Chris Shearman as the Project Manager on the Ron Holland design 45m Motor Yacht currently in build. Chris has many years experience as both an accredited marine surveyor as well as a Project Manager on many significant Motor Yacht builds. Having worked all over the world, Chris has built many projects to MCA standards.
The build on the 45m Motor Yacht (Bn80) began this summer and launch is scheduled for 2010. The yacht will be built to the critical MCA 500 GRT limit and the layout allows for a 12 guest complement. The intention for this new design is to fulfill her owner’s personal requirements, and to create a foundation for a potential series to be launched from RMK Marine. The RMK45 has been designed to cross the ocean with maximum efficiency and comfort, maximizing fuel range within the constraints of a twin screw displacement motor yacht of this length.
The 45m Motor Yacht is the latest signing for the RMK Marine who are currently working with some of the principle names in yacht design. Currently in build is the 52m Sparkman & Stephens ketch with a Redman, Whitely and Dixon interior due for completion early in 2009 plus the Dubois design Oyster Yachts. With a pedigree that includes several successful Vripack explorer boats RMK are ideally matched for this new Ron Holland build.

The interior décor will have a contemporary Asian theme with Thai and Japanese influences included in the design. A variety of materials will be used to achieve this décor including a gold leaf stencilled finish, custom lacquering, parchment and shagreen as well as a variety of silks to complement the eastern motif. The interior also includes dark wenge timber, light fabric panels, white grooved ceilings, and also feature decorative shoji screens with back lighting.
RMK Marine report that the Dubois Yacht designed composite Oyster 100 and 125 sailing yachts are progressing well and the hull infusion for the 100 model has been successfully implemented. And according to the RMK, the Sparkman and Stephens 52m alloy ketch, Nazenin V has recently been delivered to its owner. With a number of Vripack explorer yachts already under their belt RMK Marine say they expect that the Ron Holland design will compliment their range of new built vessels.
